Thinking of places to impress your significant other’s parents this 2018? Or really just a place fancy enough for a boys’ night out? Here is a list of new restaurants in Kuala Lumpur (KL) that will sweep your guests off their feet and leave them agape at the sheer display of ambiance and food!
Goa by Hubba
Soul Society has recently started a new restaurant called Goa by Hubba, a new establishment dishing up unique Indian cuisines. By Sapna Anand, a decorated celebrity chef, the restaurant is located just off Changkat Bukit Bintang, serving up notable dishes like the Goan Beef Cutlet, Allepey Grilled Fish, and many more.
Not only do they serve typically-hard to find indigenous Indian cuisines, their mixologist (yes, you heard that right) uses local Goan ingredients to (literally) spice your conventional cocktails up. Spiked Mango Lassi, Masala Mantra, and Ass Whupping Chai Massala just to name a few. And of course, if you’re plain-vanilla like me, they also serve regular tap beers, wine, and spirits.
Soul Society is no new player to the F&B scene. One would’ve heard of culinary pig out spots like SOULed Out, Tujo and WIP; now with Goa added to the ball game, what more could you ask for?

Deuce Dining Bar
Deuce is a casual modern European inspired restaurant and bar that incorporates flavours from across the globe. They cater to dinner crowds of all occasions. Whether a romantic date, casual family dinner or just a catch up with old friends, they’ve got it covered.
Deuce experiments and succeeds with cuisines of all sorts; using intriguing, almost obscure recipes to create flavours I can guarantee that are new to your taste buds. This is the sort of restaurant that surprises you with everything on the menu, with reviews even noting a particular cauliflower soup that would make you fall head over heels for its distinctive flavour!
Not only do the flavours of the dishes stand out – the aesthetic and overall presentation is also worth applauding. Its almost like they tailored a look to each already-refined dish. We highly recommend taking your parents over for an evening with great food and drinks to accompany.

Ate_Cetera is an Asian Fusion restaurant located in Hartamas Shopping Centre. Think natural lighting, and Sunday brunch touched with the intimacy of private dining. Hunger pangs hitting you late at night yet you’re craving for more than just the regular fast food takeouts? Ate_Cetera could be just the place to switch things up once in a while as they’re opened till 12am and even beyond on most days!
Notable mentions include their famed Yam Tiramisu, never would I have expected to see those two words string together but try it for yourself to witness its marvel. The restaurant’s interior hints of baby blue and white hues with plants hung from the ceiling and also walls, it almost felt like I was dining al fresco, less the sticky and ickiness!
This new restaurant screams perfection for a night out with the bros or really a location for all occasions! A unique twist of Asian fusion dishes with impressive interiors.

M Marini Grand Caffe & Terrazza
This restaurant is Malaysia’s first champange, caviar and caffe restaurant. For the hipsters out there, they also feature dishes with Malaysian flavours like Wagyu Beef Cheek Rendang.
This is definitely on the higher end of cuisines on this list, but you get to enjoy rarely-seen caviars and seafood and to top that off, the elegance and white lights set the mood for a sophisticated atmosphere.
Whether a date to impress or an afternoon high tea, there is something for everyone.

Isabel Restaurant & Bar
After opening Alexis in KL, Isabel was introduced as the subsidiary of the former restaurant. Having an immaculate decor seems to be a prerequisite to opening a restaurant nowadays as the theme continues on this list; this again could just be one of the best interior designs and decorations you would ever see in a restaurant!
You can expect dishes from the region like Vietnamese Chicken Rice, and for the unorthodox dish seekers, rest assured your taste buds will be satisfied with food items like the Khanom Chin and Ulam Platter. Bringing to you a piece of South East Asian cuisine one nation at a time, Isabel plans to eventually incorporate Cambodian, Laotian and Myanmese dishes to their menu in time to come.
As much as a culinary destination, Isabel is also a proper bar, cocktail chasers and bar crawlers keep your eyes peeled as this could just be your next spot for your barhop Fridays.

Argentinian chef Ramiro Moya cooks for one of KL’s most stylish steakhouses. Vantador, famed for using the much revered and premium dry-aged beef in preparation to create the Rubia Gallega, arguably the world’s best cut of beef.
One does not simply visit Vantador without sampling some of their interesting starters like Roasted Wagyu Bone Marrow, Cauliflower Panna Cotta and Oxtail Terrine with pickled okra. You know the steakhouse is legitimate when they provide you with a variety of cuts of beef; a choice of either tomahawk, T-bone, porterhouse or the bone-in ribeye, you’re spoilt for choices!
The restaurant is separated into a few sections, featuring a bar top experience that serves up bite-sized tapas, mini lamb empanadas, crab cakes and panko-crumbed pickled jalapenos. What sets this place apart is having the option of having a private room. Also, the sheer wild idea that the restaurant has a cigar lounge takes the mood of the restaurant to a whole new level.
