Zouk Malaysia Showdown: Zouk KL vs Zouk Genting
With the recent launch of Zouk Genting and it just being an hour away from Kuala Lumpur, we are seriously spoilt for choices, giving us the perfect excuse to visit both Zouk Kuala Lumpur and Zouk Genting over the Vesak Day Weekend.
We traveled to Zouk Kuala Lumpur on Friday and Zouk Genting on Saturday which was coincidentally their grand opening, and both clubs were certainly at their busiest.
Join us on our journey to the 2 hottest party spots in Malaysia as we compare the prices, amenities, and service!
Zouk Kuala Lumpur
Established in 2004 under the “Zouk Brand”, Zouk Kuala Lumpur has won numerous HAPA awards and is now ranked as the 13th club in the world by the DJ Mag Top 100 Clubs Award.
Pulling up to Zouk Kuala Lumpur, I was seriously in awe. A single building that big just completely made for a club? It looks so much more like a shopping mall instead.
With its very own driveway, pick up point and valet service, it makes it especially convenient for you to get there and leave the club when its time to get home especially if you are living in central Kuala Lumpur.
Immediately at the door, PR girls started approaching us with the bottle packages and menu, enquiring which dance floor we would like, the size of the party and whether we had any personal preferences.
Here are the bottle prices available at Zouk Kuala Lumpur:
|Jameson Whiskey 700ml||388|
|Belvedere Vodka 700ml||438|
|Chivas Regal 12 750ml||438|
|Glenmorangie Single Malt Whisky 750ml||468|
|Moët & Chandon Champagne Impérial Brut 750 ml||468|
|Hennessy VSOP Cognac 700ml||508|
|Johnie Walker Gold Label 750ml||578|
We had a party of 7, and therefore we would prefer getting a sofa instead of a standing table and we were advised to get a minimum of three bottles in order to secure the sofa.
Tip: There are 10 dancefloors in Zouk Kuala Lumpur. After doing our “site recee”, we recommend you to choose the “Zouk Main Room” or “Velvet” for EDM and RnB, where the floors are more filled with guests, giving you the energy to party the night away!
We were escorted to our table in Velvet. This is what we got for a total of RM1494: Chivas Regal, Hennessy VSOP, and Moet & Chandon.
We had a butler assigned to the area where he was in charge of our table. He was very polite and attentive to our needs. For example, he will bother making the drinks for us and changing/refilling the ice buckets whenever it was going to run out or was melting.
If you’re a smoker, you will be pleased to find out that smoking is permitted in Zouk Kuala Lumpur with an ashtray available at every table. Also, the very same waiter will rush to light your cigarettes, so you do not have to worry about losing your lighter!
If you ever run out of cigarettes, there is a kiosk right outside and PR ladies will also ask you throughout the night if you need to purchase a pack. The prices are surprisingly similar to those at the convenience stores which was very pleasing to find out.
But, we are not encouraging you to smoke, #justsaying!
If you’re bored of the music or just simply need to take a minute off drinking, relieve some childhood memories and go down the slide right in the center of Zouk.
2. Instagram Worthy Pictures
Here’s another tip from us!
Take the time to explore the entire Zouk Kuala Lumpur compound and not just stay in the place that you initially chose and soak yourself in the atmosphere. You will chance upon some pretty “Instagrammable” spots for both ladies and gentleman. Take a look at how much fun my friends were having 😉
Overall Experience at Zouk Kuala Lumpur
I would say that the prices were completely worth it for the service level that we were receiving. The place was very accessible since it was at the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s city center. There were also many choices that you could personally make as to which genre you prefer and you definitely will be able to find a dance floor for that.
Also, with walking distance of about 3 minutes, you will be able to get your “after drinks” fix of pizza and then get a cab home after.

With its grand launch only on 19 May 2019, this is undoubtedly one of the newest clubs in the industry for Malaysia. We decided to check it out on that night where world-renowned DJ, REHAB was taking on the decks.
In an exclusive interview with Joseph Ryan, General Manager of Zouk Genting, he aspires for all guests to have the ultimate nightlife experience over at Zouk Genting. He promises that memories will be created and all troubles will be left at the door, making you feel so special that no words can describe.
Walking into Zouk Genting, it was completely swarmed with people from all over Asia including Singaporeans and Malaysians. Located in the same area, RedTail by Zouk and RedTail Karaoke will be able to fix up your pre-drinks. Don’t forget to check out the gigantic, life-sized beer pong and jenga!
Since it was their grand launch, we tried to prebook a table about a week in advance by contacting their reservation hotline at +60 19-390 3738. At the door itself, there was a long queue and we were told that only standing tables were available and on a first come first basis.
There are 2 types of menus that are available at Zouk Genting:
1. Package Menu
This is the package menu available at the door and when you buy the package, you will get the corresponding number of guest list and a table (subjected to availability).
2. Ala carte Drink Menu
Tip: If you would like an upgrade or have any special requirements, do not be afraid to speak up to them as the crew still maintains their service level despite the large crowd.
We were able to get a sofa table for RM3000 minimum spend along the night after checking with the PR Manager on the availability. In total, we got 3 bottles of GH.Mumm, a bucket of Heineken beer, Glenlivet and Chivas Regal for 8 Pax.
Unlike Zouk Kuala Lumpur, Zouk Genting only has one dance floor, which is the main room.
It has 2 floors which are the upper and lower deck.
The upper deck is mainly filled with sofa tables whereas the lower deck consists of the dance floor, bars, and tables. The standing tables are located on the dancefloor itself and nearby the bars and this style emulates the style of Thailand Clubs.
Overall Experience at Zouk Genting
Tucked away in the basement of Resorts World Genting, Zouk Genting is fairly accessible via linkways to the hotel resorts around it. Therefore you do not have to worry about getting there and heading back as long as you are living in the vicinity.
Although the prices were slightly more expensive than Zouk Kuala Lumpur, it was definitely worth its price considering the bottle service, atmosphere and a personal butler attached to every table to attend to your every need, similar to the one in Zouk Kuala Lumpur.
Apart from just the regular DJ spinning, Zouk Genting has substantial entertainment such as dancers and acrobats.
Zouk Genting notably has a clearer booking system in place as well as a larger variety of drinks to choose from.
Missed out REHAB? Joseph Ryan promises many more to come, lined up with world-class DJs and other activities planned out in Resorts World Genting.
A tip from the man himself: By becoming a member of the Resorts World Genting Rewards program, a card holder not only opens themselves up to exclusive offers for RedTail and Zouk, but a colossal 150 other outlets in the resort. There is no card in this country that offers this many perks!
Location: Level G, SkyAvenue, Genting Highlands, 69000 Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia
- Friday, Saturday & eve of public holiday: 11pm – 4am
If you need some food after drinks, head up the escalator and “Richdad” will be in sight, serving you a variety of both Asian and Western Cuisine
We recommend all Malaysians that are intending to visit Zouk Genting to book a hotel stay for the night as it is dangerous to drink and drive. You can check out Expedia or Agoda for cashback off your hotel booking.
